Description
The Crane Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center is seeking sources and information for a Market Survey being conducted for a Shipboard Infrared Visual Sensor System (SIRVSS) to be used on United States Coast Guard (USCG) Cutters and other maritime craft of various types. The SIRVSS?s primary mission is to augment existing optical and radar sensors. Ancillary uses of the SIRVSS will include enhancing the following: low-visibility and night navigation; maritime interception; coastal observation and surveillance; insertion and extraction operations; visit, board, search, and seizure operations; combat search and rescue; identification friend or foe; real-time situational awareness and threat warning; reconnaissance and surveillance; and mapping navigational hazards. Respondees should at a minimum respond with comments to the attached performance specification. This request for information in no way implies either implicitly or explicitly that respondees will be compensated in any way by the Government for information or materials provided. All information provided becomes Government property and will not be returned. All proprietary or classified information will be treated appropriately. Please submit any applicable product literature, drawings, brochures, videos, or related material on or before 23 December 2004 via electronic mail or CDROM. This notice does not constitute a RFP and it is not a commitment by the U.S. Navy to procure subject equipment. The Government is only seeking information and possible sources for future needs, if and when they arise. No solicitation document exists at this time. It is anticipated that the formal solicitation document will be issued on or about January 2005. THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT INTEND TO AWARD A CONTRACT ON THE BASIS OF THIS REQUEST FOR INFORMATION OR OTHERWISE PAY FOR THE INFORMATION SOLICITED.
