- Description
- Customs and Border Protection (CBP) intends to issue an Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity Contract for Canadian Travel Motor Vehicle Liability Insurance. This insurance is to cover vehicles owned, licensed, and or leased by the CBP while on official business in Canada and its territories. Insurance equals minimum liability standards established by Canadian Law. Evidence of insurance is in the form of a proof of insurance card interchangeable among CPB vehicles. This card shows that the insurance company agrees to provide at least the minimum legal coverage requirement when a Government Owned vehicle travels into Canada, and that it has filed the necessary power of attorney and undertaking with the Canadian authorities. US Government vehicles operating in the United States are self-insured. Please note that NO insurance will be required for these same vehicles while operating in the United States. Please note that the proof of insurance card is not specific to any one vehicle, and can be transferred between vehicles. The maximum number of vehicles operating in Canada at any given time could equal 1,581. However, the actual number of vehicles will be substantially lower. The CBP will provide a list of vehicles by year, make, model, and vehicle identification number at the time the contract is awarded. The vehicle list is subject to change as vehicles are replaced and or taken out of service. Vehicles listed are stationed in CBP offices proximate to the Canadian border between Maine and Washington State and travel into Canada for temporary Government business purposes. The minimum order is based on one-vehicle. For a copy of the Request For Quote, contact James Gorman at (317) 614-4575 or by E-mail at JAMES.A.Gorman@dhs.gov.
