Description

This is a notice of intent to award a sole source simplified acquisition under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.106-1(b) to MKS Instruments, Inc. of Wilmington, MA 01887. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has a requirement for an MKS Instruments, Inc. multi channel gas flow and pressure controller, mass flow controllers, and accessories for use by the Process Sensing Group in the Process Measurements Division which is involved in a collaborative effort with another laboratory which is using MKS equipment. This additional equipment will augment the equipment existing equipment manufactured by MKS Systems. MKS is the only known source that can fulfill this requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all proposals received by 1:00p.m. (Eastern Standard Time) March 8, 2005, will be considered by the Government. No RFQ package is available. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed action based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The NAICS code for this procurement is 334516 with a small business size standard of 500 employees.
