- Description
- The purpose of this amendment is to allow for Questions & Answers and to extend the due date for quotes through March 3, 2005, 3:00:00 Eastern Standard Time (EST). QUESTION: Your bid mentioned bi-polar, is that a system that can output in both a positive and a negative direction? What is the timing duration of each direction ANSWER: Yes, it should be able to output in both positive and negative directions. The power supply will be used to operate a superconducting magnet, so it should be able to handle a large inductive load, few henries. In normal operation, we will ramp the magnet up in 50s, stay up for a few seconds, ramp down and up in 100s (possibly reversing directions), and similar sequences follow. QUESTION: Also, your offering stated that you need four quadrants, is that four separate sets of contacts (Anode and Cathode)? ANSWER: It should have only two contacts. Four quadrant means the ability to switch the polarity of voltage and current electronically. For example, when we first use +15V to ramp the magnet from 0A to +300A (first quadrant), then it can reserve it?s polarity use -15V to ramp the magnet down from 300A to 0A (fourth quadrant). QUESTION: Are the 300 amps per quadrant? ANSWER: 300A will the maximum positive and negative current the power supply will output. This is true whichever quadrant the power supply will be operated in. The power supply will be used to operate a superconducting magnet (large inductive loads), and a brief explanation of four quadrant. All other terms and conditions of this combined synopsis/solicitation remain the same.
