Description
Notice of intent to negotiate on a sole source basis with Nittany Scientific Inc, Riverton, UT, for Symmetric Beamwidth UWB Antenna, qty 1. The requirement is as follow: The antenna shall have ultrawideband frequency range, optimized for the 120 MHz to 8 GHz range but with capability of operation up to 16 GHz in a single unit, and with a porous dielectric focusing element that has dielectric constant less than 2, as well as symmetric beamwidth at 3dB in the elevation and azimuth planes at no less than 20? at any frequency in the operating range, 18 dBi peak gain, gain increase of 10dB per decade, RF input power within the range of 250 W from 130 MHz to 550 MHz, 4.7 dBi from 550 MHz to 1100 MHz, 15.5 dBi from 1100 MHz to 2500 MHz, capable of operating with integral electronic and mechanical parts, including advanced positioner or rotator elements, serial interface, coil, connectors of the MIL power and serial types, and integral, contiguous foam-filled enclosure. The ! unit must have power output of 100 Watts, and VSWR < 3 throughout the frequency range noted above. The antenna must maintain full performance under movement, minor shocks/shrapnel, and varying weather conditions. It should require no ground-planes, heat-sinks, baluns or any other peripherals in order to operate at the maximum performance level. The vendor must have extensive experience in providing high performance, ultrawideband antennas with specialized dielectric materials (such as syntactic foam, TiO2, microsphere-based artificial dielectric), and thermally cycled dielectrics and metals with different coefficients of expansion. Required delivery date is 12 May 2005. Nittany is the original equipment manufacturer of the existing system. Nittany is the only known source that makes the required equipment. Request for oral quotation being utilized. Anticipate FFP. FOB Destination Monterey, Ca. Anticipated award date: 3 Mar 05.
