- Description
- The US Army Research Development Engineering Command, Natick Soldier Center (RDECOM-NSC) in Natick, MA, is conducting a market survey for technical information on methods to develop Cargo Parachute Releases to replace or modify the M-1 and M-2 Cargo Parachute Releases so as to provide a more reliable, lower maintenance, lower weight, and lower cost release. The releases must be capable of automatically releasing the parachutes from the cargo upon ground impact regardless of ground wind conditions and payload orientation. The new Cargo Parachute Releases, used with either a single or clustered parachute configuration, shall have the following performance characteristics: capable of delivering combat loads having suspended weights between 500 pounds th rough 22,000 pounds (objective) (15,500 pounds (threshold) for M-1 replacement; and 15,000 pounds through 60,000 pounds (objective) (42,000 pounds (threshold)) for M-2 replacement; capable of withstanding the forces typically associated with operations fro m military cargo aircraft traveling between 130-150 knots indicated air speed (KIAS); provide a successful airdrop completion rate of 92 percent without a system abort. The science and technology effort in the area of applied research and experimental development being considered is on the order of $400,000 per year for two years. Proprietary information will not be disclosed outside the U.S. Government. All interested firms, regardless of size are encouraged to respond to this request for information. It should be noted that this is a market survey and not a pre-solicitation notice. A pre-solicitation notice will be published if a formal solicitation is generated. No awards will result from this market survey. Nothing shall be construed herein or through the market survey process to commit or obligate the Government to further action as a result of this market survey. Firms responding to this market survey shall bea r all risk and expense of any resources used to provide the requested information, and all information submitted in response to this request shall become the property of the Government and will not be returned to the submitter. Respondents must submit the ir product brochures, technical data, or other information concerning performance and cost within 30 days of this publication.
