- The Office of the Project Manager for Combat Ammunition Systems, at Picatinny Arsenal NJ is conducting a market survey to identify potential sources capable of manufacturing and delivering 81mm/120mm/60mm Long and Short Range Practice Mortar Cartridges, inclusive of packaging. Potential candidates must have the production capability to provide a combination of up to 15,000 per month 60mm M769; 120mm M931 and XM932; 81mm M879 and M879E1 (which simulates the 81mm, M821A1/M889A1 High Explosive and replaces the M879 by using a center vent tube instead of inert concrete fill) Training Mortar Cartridges. All facilities must have safety clearance to handle up to Hazard Class 1.2B Explosives/Hazardous components. It is anticipated that 60mm and 81mm shell bodies and fins will be provided as Government furnished material. Otherwise all other components are projected to be the responsibility of the contractor. All responding sources shall provide a summary of their company?s capabilities including organizations, name/address/point of contact identification, capabilities, a description of facilities/equipment, manufacturing process, inspection capability, personnel, past experience as an ammunition item load/assemble/pack producer or systems contractor, proven monthly production capacity and/or potential capability; possible partnering/teaming arrangements; and whether the company is a small or large business.
