Description
CLIN 0001: 5706 Compact Range Probing Service This requirement is for the procurement of technical services necessary for establishing the efficacy of the electromagnetic field of the Compact Range within the volume surrounding the Antenna Under Test (AUT), known as the ?quiet zone?. The services must be provided for both C-Band fields, as well as Ku-Band fields, since the Range must support both frequency bands. The field characteristics desired are well known, but require special tooling and data reduction techniques to enable the measurements to be made with the necessary accuracy and the raw data reduced for comparison to the industry accepted values for a ?quiet zone?. Additionally, the contractor must present these results to our technical staff in a format easily evaluated by those trained in electromagnetics. Microwave Instrument Technologies (MIT) is the successor Corporation to the pioneering entity in the commercial application of the so-called Compact Range. As such, they are the inheritors of all intellectual property previously owned by Scientific Atlanta related to antenna measurement technology. The Compact Range and all its components were designed, manufactured and have been maintained by MIT, or its predecessor, since the range was purchased by the U. S. Government, approximately 15 years ago. Given the historical perspective, the supplier?s familiarity and expertise in the technology involved and the unique proprietary probe design available only to them; these are some of the unique set of mandatory capabilities that resides only with MIT. In particular, MIT possesses proprietary information related to this particular installation based on the extensive maintenance history they have accumulated over the past 15 years that would be relevant in interpreting the probe data.
