Description
ELECTRONIC RFP ANNOUNCEMENT. THIS RFP MAY BE ACCESSED THROUGH THE RESEARCH CONTRACTS BRANCH (RCB) HOMEPAGE AT http://rcb.cancer.gov/rcb-internet/ Once you are in the website: double click on "Current Requests for Proposals". INTERESTED OFFERORS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DOWNLOADING THEIR OWN COPY OF THE RFP SOLICITATION AND AMENDMENTS. IT IS THE OFFEROR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO MONITOR THE INTERNET SITE FOR THE RELEASE OF THIS SOLICITAION AND AMENDMENTS, IF ANY. The Pediatric Oncology Branch (POB), Immunocompromised Host Section, Center for Cancer Research (CCR), National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health (NIH) requires that the contractor provide veterinary and laboratory animal care, assessments, and transportation of rabbits. The Contractor shall provide qualified personnel, facilities, material, and equipment to provide for the care, laboratory acclimation, assessment, and delivery of farm bred rabbits. The contractor shall provide for the daily care of rabbits transferred from a breeding colony, ensure their acclimation to a laboratory environment, and deliver them in good health to the Clinical Center located on the Bethesda, Maryland campus of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). An estimated 36 healthy rabbits per month (432 per year) shall be required to be delivered with a flexibility of 25 to 45 rabbits per month. Offerors submitting proposals must have (or provide evidence that they can establish prior to award) the ability to provide the requested service within 24 hours. Mandatory criteria: The offeror must demonstrate the ability to respond to requests on a short notice at the facility at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Bethesda, Maryland campus. It is necessary for the offeror to be located within approximately one-half hour from the NIH, Bethesda campus in order to minimize the travel time for the rabbits. Experience has indicated that when rabbits are transported for more than an extended period of time that stress-associated morbidity and mortality increase substantially. Thus, the close proximity to the NIH campus will improve laboratory animal health and reduce costs due to attrition. This procurement represents a recompetition of N01-RC-17000, whichis being performed by Biooqual, Inc. It is anticipated that one fixed price type contract will be awarded for a base period of one year, with four one-year option periods. The RFP N02-RC-57015-30 will be issued on or about March 31, 2005, and due approximately 30 days after the issue date. No collect calls will be accepted.
