Description
Vessel Required: US-flag self-sustaining container vessel capable of transporting a minimum of 1,035 TEUs with an average weight of 18 LT per TEU. Applicable HAZMAT classes are 1.1 through 1.4, the total NEW is 3.3 million lbs, and there are 310 inert TEUs. A more detailed packing list is available upon request. The vessel is required to maintain a minimum average laden speed of 16 knots in moderate weather. In accordance with Section IIIA.3 of the Voluntary Intermodal Sealift Agreement (VISA) (see 69 FEDERAL REGISTER 25166-25168, May 5, 2004, or most current reference), preference will be given to VISA participants. Under the Cargo Preference Act of 1904, any reflagging or repair work to: (1) enable the vessel to meet applicable standards to become a vessel of the United States; or (2) to convert the vessel to a more militarily useful configuration; must be performed in the United States.
