Description

The Veterans Affairs Medical Center in New Orleans, LA is soliciting bids for contractor to provide all labor, material and equipment necessary to upgrade the fire alarm and protection systems components. Work consists of a work list of 246 various areas within the medical center, and the contractor shall comply with the current National Fire Protection Association codes and standards. Work shall include, but not limited to, a thorough review of the existing facility conditions, particularly in regard to the requirements for installation of smoke/fire dampers in ductwork. Work will also require tie-ins between new work and existing fire alarm and protection systems components, and shall be coordinated and scheduled to minimize the number of shutdowns and to minimize the disruption to hospital services and personnel. Solicitation packets will be available on or about March 15, 2005 and will be issued on a first come first serve basis. Only fifteen (15) solicitation sets are available for issue. A refundable bid deposit of $100.00 is required. Acceptable forms of bid deposits are certified check, cashier's check or money order ONLY. Requests for solicitation packets must be in writing. Potential bidders are advised that they are responsible for obtaining any amendments to this solicitation. Bid opening date is April 14, 2005 at 2:00 pm CST and the pre-bid conference is March 31, 2005 at 1:30 pm CST, both to be held at the VA Medical Center, 1601 Perdido Street, New Orleans, LA 70112, Building 2, Room 405. Construction completion time is 120 calendar days. Construction range is $100,000 to $250,000. The NAICS code is 238990, All Other Specialty Trade Contractors, size standard is $12.0M. This procurement is subject to the availability of funds and has a mandatory 120 bid acceptance period. THIS PROCUREMENT IS A TOTAL SMALL BUSINESS SET ASIDE.
