Description
The following ammendment 0001 is made to W151KN-05-X-0438 to extend the date for submission of responses until April 7, 2005 and to clarify the requirement for XM1068 as follows: ENHANCED 12-GAUGE NONLETHAL POINT ROUND, XM1068 MARKET SURVEY The U.S. Army Research, Development, and Engineering Command, Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (RDECOM-ARDEC), Picatinny Arsenal, NJ is currently seeking sources for the manufacture and delivery of the Enhanced 12-Gauge Nonlethal Point Round, XM1068. This round will replace the existing M1012 and is designed to provide an effective nonlethal point control measure on a targeted individual through kinetic energy upon impact. Unlike the M1012, the XM1068 has an extended range of 5 meters to 30 meters (threshold) and 1 meter to 75 meters (objective.) The XM1068 point round shall be a nonlethal device that produces enough non-explosive and non-fragmenting kinetic force upon impact to create an intense stinging effect. TACOM-ARDEC is also interested in a point round that is a nonlethal device that releases a visible, brightly colored, non-red substance that when seemingly removed, maintains indelible UV properties up to three days (threshold) and five days (objective) later in order to identify individuals with a device that detects the stain. The Enhanced 12-Gauge Nonlethal Point Round shall be size-compatible with the 12-gauge utility pouch (GSA# GSAATIEAUPMS) and shall be transportable by soldiers over all environmental domains. The Enhanced 12-Gauge Nonlethal Point Round must be compatible with the Mossberg 590, and will also be tested using the Winchester 1200, Mossberg 500, Modular Accessory Shotgun System (MASS), and the Joint Services Shotgun (XM1014). The probability of hitting an E-Silhouette at the maximum effective threshold ranges should be at least .80 (threshold) and .95 (objective.) All responsible, interested sources are encouraged to submit their capabilities/qualification data. The literature received from interested candidates shall describe its functional and characteristics. Request that any prospective offers submit their literature no more than 30 pages within 30 days from the date of publication of this notice. Submittal of information is requested via electronic mail only to Terry Niederhaus, Contract Specialist, US ARMY TACOM-Picatinny, AMSTA-AQ-APD, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ; voice 973-724-3362; e-mail at: tnieder@pica.army.mil no later than 30 days from date of this notice, by April 7, 2005. All information is to be submitted at no cost or obligation to the Government. This is only a Market Survey Notice, not a Pre- Solicitation notice. If a formal solicitation is generated at a later date, a solicitation notice will be published.
