Description
The U.S. Department of Commerce, NOAA, intends to purchase 300 5-gallon containers and 125 one-quart containers, Synthetic Lubricating Gear Box Oil, American Lubricants P/N SCH 75W and Mobil P/N 624, NSN: 9150-01-418-8738. These items are being purchased for the National Weather Service (NWS), to be delivered to the National Logistics Support Center, Kansas City, MO. The oil is used to lubricate the gear train assemblies which turn the radar antennas. Although, the Mobil part number is considered compatible, the NWS has determined and agreed upon by the NWS/Radar Operations Center, the NWS/National Reconditioning Center (NRC), and the gear train assemblies manufacturer that the use of another manufacturer?s product will not only cause damage to the gear train assemblies, but it is against good engineering practices to switch back and forth between two different lubricating oils. The oil shall be packaged in 5-gallon containers manufactured by Lab Safety Supply, P/N TL8218 (N) and in one-quart containers with absolutely no exceptions. As these items are in support of the current NEXRAD program, alternative or like items would not be acceptable. The government knows of only one source (A.J. Klein) who can provide and deliver these items as stated above. Any small business sources, able to provide the exact item as referenced herein is encouraged to respond to this announcement within 10 days after its publication. Interested firms should submit in writing, its name, address, point of contact, telephone number, business size and brief statement regarding its capability to provide the specified items. This information should be submitted by email to Karen.L.Christian@noaa.gov or may be faxed to telephone number 816-426-7530, ATTN: Karen L. Christian. Failure to provide the required information will deem your response non-responsive. The government reserves the right to solicit bids based on receipt of affirmative responses to this notice. This acquisition is being conducted pursuant to the guidelines set forth in FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisitions. This is not a request for proposals and there is no solicitation available at this time. The anticipated award date shall be within 15 calendar days after date of this announcement. The NAICS code for this action is 324191. This requirement shall be considered a small business set-aside. All contractors doing business with this Acquisition Office must be registered with the Central Contractor Registry (CCR) and Online Representations and Certifications Application (ORCA).
