- Description
- The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIRSYCOM) intends to procure 20 each Armored Energy-Absorbing Flightworthy and Non-Flightworthy Crew Seats for Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) for the UH-1Y and AH-1Z model aircraft. The crew seats will be purchased from Simula Aerospace & Defense Group, Inc, as a modification to an existing contract with Simula Aerospace using existing priced contract line items. This requirement will be procured in accordance the statutory authority permitting other than full and open competition under 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1), as implemented by the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1(a)(2), in that Simula produced and qualified the crew seats for the UH-1Y and AH-1Z under a EMD R&D contract and is therefore, the only qualified manufacture with the technical data and experience necessary that will satisfy Marine Corps equipment and delivery requirements.
