- Description
- LAWRENCE LIVERMORE NATIONAL LABORATORY SEEKS PARTNERS TO COMMERCIALIZE FRMWORK: AN INTEGRATIVE METHODOLOGY FOR PROCESS/QUALITY IMPROVEMENT Announcement: Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), operated by the University of California under contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), is seeking a partner to support further research in its software based process (FRMWORK) for improving manufacturing efficiency. FRMWORK is an Integrative Methodology for Process/Quality Improvement. Alternatively, the Laboratory seeks to license the technology to interested parties. FRMWORK can be used to improve the efficiency of various processes of manufacture, including, for example, automobile production, clothing manufacture, electronic devices such as computers or any process that utilizes production lines and repetitive steps which are quantifiable. The advantages of FRMWORK are as follows: · FRMWORK focuses on real-time quality control in manufacturing processes and strives to reduce quality variation due to common or special causes. · FRMWORK integrates Automatic Process Control, Statistical Process Control, and Bayesian Belief Networks to significantly reduce quality variation. · The integration has demonstrated it can significantly reduce quality variation. Most importantly, the integration takes advantage of all technologies in process control, overcomes the limitations of each technology, addresses the two major sources of quality variation (special and common causes), and offers more than one way to improve quality FRMWORK focuses on real-time quality control in manufacturing processes and strives to reduce quality variation due to common or special causes. These processes have the following characteristics: 1) performance measures are auto-correlated due to frequent sampling or common causes; 2) the relationships between quality variation and causes cannot be exhaustively listed; and 3) the causes that are responsible for quality variation cannot be pre-determined, making real-time trouble-shooting a necessity. Note: THIS IS NOT A PROCUREMENT. Companies interested in commercializing LLNL's FRMWORK technology should provide a written statement of interest, which includes the following: 1. Company Name and address. 2. The name, address, and telephone number of a point of contact. 3. A description of corporate expertise and facilities relevant to commercializing this technology. Written responses should be directed to: Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Industrial Partnerships and Commercialization P.O. Box 808, L-795 Livermore, CA 94551-0808 Attention: FBO 101-05 Please provide your written statement within thirty (30) days from the date this announcement is published to ensure consideration of your interest in LLNL's FRMWORK technology. NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO WWW.FEDBIZOPPS.GOV ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (10-MAR-2005); HOWEVER, IT DID APPEAR IN THE FEDBIZOPPS FTP FEED ON THIS DATE.
