- Description
- CDC, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, DART, located in Cincinnati intends to negotiate with Particle Instruments, LLC to procure for a Standard 10 lpm ELPl-01; ELPl Electrical Filter Stage; Vaccuum Hose (1.5m) pressure value & NWIG flange connectors; Vaccuum Pump SV25B, 115 1/60 Hz for 10, 20 & 30 lpm impactor; and Sintered Collection Plate Set. The procurement is for a real-time size-selective personal and area sampling instrument for aerosol concentration measurements in the aerodynamic size range of 7 nanometers to 10 microns. The instrument employs a 13 stage, low?pressure cascade impactor, with real?time detection, involving an initial electrical charging stage and subsequent current measurement on each of the 13 impactor stages. A vacuum pump provides the low pressure sampling flow necessary to extend the size range into the ultrafine range. The supplied software runs on a user-provided PC, allowing for data acquisition, display in real time and basic analysis, as well as control of instrument parameters. The instrument can be used in the lab or in the field. By placing sampling media on the stages, subsequent gravimetric, chemical and morphological analyses can be performed. Also, by turning the charging unit off, aerosol charge can be measured. In addition to the real-time sizing capabilities, the product can provide the charge vs. diameter on aerosols in real-time. Further project requirements are to determine mass vs. size, morphology and chemistry of ultrafine particles, which the ELPl will allow for in conjunction with other apparatus. Firms that believe they can provide the required equipment are encouraged to identify themselves and give written product information to the Contracting Officer within 15 days from the date of this synopsis. A determination not to compete this proposed action based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Please address all inquiries to Margaret L. Mooney at CDC/PGO/AAFB/Pittsburgh, (412)386-6431 or E-mail zia3@cdc.gov. All responsible sources may submit a response which shall be considered by the agency.
