- Description
- It is the intent of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) to acquire non-exclusive rights to use Version 1 of DeLima Associates? Dietary Supplements Online Database (DSOL) from DeLima Associates of Virginia. The period of performance is one (1) year with one (1) one-year option period. The DSOL database developed by DeLima Associates is the only commercially available dietary supplement database approved by CDC under the SBIR program. NLM?s Toxicology and Environmental Information Program (TEHIP) has received and evaluated the demonstration version of this database. The DSOL database is a relational database that contains product information for about 1,000 individual brands of dietary supplements, including brand name, form, active and inactive ingredients, amount of active ingredient/unit, suggested dose, health claims, warning, percentage Daily Value, universal product code, (UPC), manufacturer/distributor information, and other label information. Information is provided for vitamins, minerals, botanicals, amino acids, energy/weight loss and specialty supplements. Also included in the database is manufacturer contact information and product testing results, when available. The DSOL database has a user-friendly, front-end application for researchers that will search the database by brand name, manufacturer/distributor name, active ingredient, and keyword. The database also contains samples of active ingredient fact sheets, data on health effects of active ingredients, a medical conditions-active ingredients lookup table, samples of access to clinical research regarding medical condition-active ingredients lookup table, samples of access to clinical research regarding medical conditions, and links to government Web sites that contain dietary supplement and nutrition information. This database is unique in that it identifies Chemical Abstract Service (CAD) registry numbers for each ingredient thereby allowing the ability to link each ingredient to other NLM databases. It also compares the percentage of federal government-recommended daily nutrient intake values obtained from each dietary supplement brand. This service will be solicited using FAR Part 13 (Simplified Acquisitions). This is not a Request for Quotations (RFQ), nor is an RFQ available, however, all interested parties may submit a capabilities statement which will be considered by the NLM. The capabilities statement should demonstrate that the interested party is able to provide the professional technical services as specified above. Responses are required within 15 (fifteen) calendar days from the publication date of this notice. NLM synopsis No. 05-171/NSD shall be noted on all correspondence to this announcement. Inquiries regarding this procurement may be made to Neha Dhir on 301-496-6546.
