Description
This notice replaces JS03112005, which incorrectly indicated the Document Type as "Presolicitation Notice." The correct Document Type is "Sources Sought Synopsis." The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to acquire firewall hardware required to meet SSAs network security requirement. The SSA will pursue acquiring ten to fifteen Nokia IP1220 Security Platform standard packages plus an additional 512MB RAM for each package. The Nokia IP1220 is a purpose-built IP Security Platform for running Check Point Firewall/VPN SecureXL 2.x and Nokia Secure Access System software. This platform provides leading technology that delivers resilient, long-term high performance perimeter security solutions. The Nokia IP1220 is designed to grow continually to meet increasing network traffic needs. The Nokia IP1220 delivers built-in hardware redundancy features that include hot swap interface cards, optional load sharing power supply and fan as well as optional mirrored hot swap capable hard disks. Nokia IP1220 also supports third-party Nokia OK interoperable security, monitoring and management software solutions. The Nokia IP1220 contains a high-speed encryption accelerator card and up to 2GB of RAM. The expansion capacity enables the Nokia IP1220 to service a multitude of network segments for a large and growing network infrastructure with up to twenty 10/100 Ethernet or eight 1000 GigE connections in a variety of customer selected configurations. Any firm that feels they have the capability of providing an equivalent product off of a GSA schedule contract must respond, in writing, within 15 days of this notice. Responses must be specific as to the alternate product proposed and must include detailed specifications to support claims of equivalency to the Nokia IP1220 Security Platform (specifications can be found at http://www.nokia.com/nokia/0,,43326,00.html). Vendors may submit pricing data. This is not a request for proposal and the Government does not intend to pay for information submitted. The Government will not award a contract based on responses received; however, SSA will use this information to assess capable sources. SSA will not provide acknowledgement of responses received. SSA shall issue a delivery order against vendors of Nokia IP1220 Security Platform through a GSA schedule contract if the agency receives no acceptable responses. Responses can be sent via email to Joan Smith at joan.m.smith@ssa.gov. No submissions may exceed 5MB. Responses should refer to Synopsis Number JS03112005.
