Description
THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR RECHARGEABLE BATTERY AND INTEGRATED CHARGER FOR THE WIRELESS INSTRUMENTATION SYSTEM ON INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will not be issued. The purpose of this amendment is to answer the question: "Para. 2.3 of the SOW defines a schedule of 16 weeks from contract award to delivery of flight units. The flight units are required to meet all the specifications for present onboard systems. This time interval appears very restrictive unless a present design already exists. Does NASA feel that this is a correct time span for delivery of the flight units given the space qualified parts may take up to one year to be available?" The answer is as follows: The use of commercial parts is strongly suggested to accellerate the delivery schedule for this criticality 3 (nice to have, no impact to mission if it does not work) application. We strongly encourage selecting a commercial cell design tolerant to electrical abuse such that no safety critical EEE parts are necessary to control catatrophic hazards. The due date for receipt of offers is not extended. Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on 3/4/2005. Documents related to this procurement are available over the Internet. These documents reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
