- This announcement constitutes a Sources Sought Synopsis (SSS). The 311 HSW YAPS, Brooks City Base, TX is seeking sources for a LOW LOAD PARACHUTE CANOPY RELEASE FEMALE ADAPTER used on F16 aircraft. NAICS code 336413. This female adapter is installed on the pilot’s torso harness and connects to the male parachute riser fitting, which is attached to the aircraft ejection seat. This item must withstand the extreme G forces of a high speed ejection, parachute deployment, and parachute descent. After the parachute landing, the adapter shall require no more than 15 pounds of force (under any load) to disengage. This is a flight safety critical item. The failure of this item during an emergency egress may result in the death of the pilot. The item is made from stainless steel with a subdued black nickel finish and the approximate dimensions are: 3.0 X 2.375 X 1.250 inches. The recommended Source is H. KOCH & SONS, 5410 E. La Palma Ave., Anaheim, CA 92807 2099. This item must be manufactured to proprietary component drawing 990010 9 and system drawing 980100. Government drawings, tooling, and facilities are not available. Contractor shall furnish all plant facilities, labor, equipment, special tools, test equipment, and materials. Firms possessing the capabilities to meet this requirement are invited to submit an airworthiness certification from the applicable aircraft chief engineer, enclose relevant test plans and independent laboratory test data, product information or catalogues, current GSA or other schedule information (if applicable) and price list or schedule. Formal responses to this SSS should also detail the experience, capabilities, and rights to proprietary drawings, as briefly outlined above, to the Government.
