Description
This is a notice of the Government?s intent to award sole source in accordance with FAR 6.302-1, One Responsible Source. The contractor is L.B. Technologies, 526 Wolfe St, Fredericksburg, VA. The requirement is for lower torso body armor under NAICS 315999. The salient characteristics of the requirement are as follows: 1. The equipment is rated level IIIa by the National Institute of Justice (NIJ). 2. The equipment is available in a desert camouflage color consistent with the current Air Force DCU uniform. 3. The equipment weighs no more than 8.0 pounds. This product does not contain ceramic or Kevlar plates. 4. The equipment is adjustable to various body sizes. 5. The equipment is available in the following sizes: small, medium, large, and extra large. 6. The equipment provides flexibility for use (driving/sitting) in tactical military convoys. 7. The equipment provides 360 degrees of protection to protect the vital organs located in the area of the lower back/waist area to the lower knee (protecting the vital organ in that region including the femoral arteries). 8. The equipment can be donned and removed quickly. 9. The equipment has the ability to hold military ammunition (magazines), small arms (hand guns), or other small military equipment. The government intends to issue the solicitation on or about 25 March 2005. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability by responding to the solicitation; technical information on your product will also be required. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement based on technical capability. The government cannot furnish full specifications and designs relating to the procurement. The government does not own the data or rights to the data needed to define individual elements of this requirement; individual elements are proprietary in nature and cannot be disclosed.
