- This announcement constitutes a Sources Sought Synopsis/Request For Information for a source of repair for the CT25KAM Ceilometer currently employed on the AN/TMQ-53 Tactical Meteorological Observing System (TMOS). 1. Purpose. The following information is provided to assist the Air Force in conducting market research of industry to identify potential providers of repair services for the ceilometer. The Government is neither negotiating nor calling for offers at this time; this announcement is an expression of interest only and does not commit the Government to pay for any response preparation cost. The government does not intend to make an award on the basis of this sources sought synopsis. Copies of the submitted information will be reproduced and submitted to the TMOS sustainment office for review and may be used to develop a ceilometer repair capability in the future. 2. Background. a. The AN/TMQ-53 is a tactical weather station that provides meteorological observations in remote, worldwide areas of operation through a quick setup/teardown, easily transportable system. The sensor set contains multiple sensors for measuring current terrestrial weather parameters, including cloud height and coverage. b. The CT25KAM Ceilometer currently employed on the TMOS is manufactured by Vaisala and is procured as ?Commercial Off the Shelf? (COTS) equipment. c. The Air Force is currently experiencing extensive delays in the repair of these units through our current repair provider. d. The Hill Air Force Base UT, 84 Combat Sustainment Wing, Weather Systems Flight is investigating possible sources of repair for the CT25KAM Ceilometer. 3. Program Overview. a. The purpose of this sources sought is to determine: (1) Manufactures or repair facilities with the experience and capacity to repair the CT25KAM Ceilometer in a more timely fashion than the current provider. NOTE: The AN/TMQ-53 is comprised almost entirely of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) technology, including the CT25KAM Ceilometer. The Government does NOT have Level III drawings or other data to support repair or specialized development activities. It will be incumbent upon respondents to describe the depth of their knowledge on this product and how they will acquire the data to support the repair of the ceilometer. Should an eventual RFP be released and contract awarded for this capability, it WILL NOT contain any provision for government funded purchase of data or data rights to the TMOS equipment. 4. Information for interested parties. a. Draft RFP. There is currently no scheduled timeline for proceeding with this effort and thus no anticipated Draft RFP availability date. b. Industry Day. No industry day is expected for this procurement. 5. Market Survey / RFI Questions.
