- Description
- The Naval Air Terminal utilizes a 2,500 square feet cold storage facility to store 463L pallets loaded with perishable cargo in Building LP-205. A forklift is used to load the pallets onto the system. The pallets are then manually positioned in the cooler via a non-powered roller deck. The roller deck consists of a ball transfer system along with standard gravity roller conveyors. The ball transfer system runs down the center of the cooler and allows the pallets to be moved in any direction. The gravity roller conveyors extend from the sides of the ball transfers and are primarily used for final storage locations. The requirement is to provide and install a new ball transfer system for the Naval Air Terminal Cold Storage Facility in Building LP-205. The installation of the new ball transfer system should include the removal of activity?s current ball transfer system. The new ball transfer system shall be capable of conveying loads weighing 10,500 pounds distributed over a 108-inch by 88-inch area without damage or permanent deformation to the conveyor system or pallet. The closing date is extended to Thursday, 3/31/05 at 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time (ET).
