- Integrated Targeting Device Request for Information 1. The Aeronautical Systems Center (ASC) is soliciting information to identify possible sources to provide a man-packable, Integrated Targeting Device (ITD) for use by ground operators. This Request for Information (RFI) is issued for informational purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation or commit the government to award a contract now or in the future. Submitting information for this RFI is voluntary, and participants will not be compensated. 2. Respondents to this RFI should describe their ability to provide a system which will meet the following overall objectives: a. Spiral development of a modular design, integrating a Laser Target Designator (LTD), eye-safe Laser Range Finder (LRF), overt and infra-red (IR) laser illuminator/pointer, day/night optics, geo-location, image capture and remote operation capabilities. b. Maximize use of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) technology for a rapid spiral development program in support of existing requirements. c. Capable of both day and night operation. d. Must be network centric. To maximum extent possible comply with CJCSI 6212.01C. e. Use open architecture where feasible. f. Optimize size/weight/power when considering human factors. 3. This system must contain the following capabilities: a. Laser Target Designation ? compatible with PRF coded, US laser guided weapons b. Laser Range Finder ? efficient, eye safe, invisible to the eye c. Geo location of self and target using an internal positioning device d. High resolution imaging/viewing to support laser designation e. Adjustable pulse and continuous wave pointers in both green and IR f. Remote operations via wired/wireless local communication 4. The system should: a. Be capable of operating in climatic design types hot through cold, salt fog, sand, and sand/dust environments. b. Be capable of withstanding the effects of transport and storage in military environments including the effects of transport in military aircraft (to include helicopter), cross-country vehicular movement, and maritime transport. c. Be capable of withstanding the atmospheric effects associated with military free-fall operations up to 25,000 feet MSL. d. Be capable of withstanding the effects of being submerged in salt water during military dive operations. e. Be capable of, when packed in a rucksack, withstanding the shock and stress associated with static line parachute infiltration and subsequent cross- country foot movement. 5. Two paper copies and an electronic copy (.doc or .pdf) should be submitted. Copies must be clearly labeled Proprietary/Competition Sensitive Information on the cover sheets and, in close proximity to this type of information, top and bottom, on each applicable page. Proprietary/Competition sensitive information will be protected from disclosure. In addition, respondents should provide their socio-economic size, and business standard. 6. Responses must be received no later than 8 April 2005.
