Description
THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 001 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR MOLYBDENUM-RHENIUM POWDER METALLURGY MATERIALS. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will not be issued. The purpose of this amendment is to extend the proposal due date and answer questions. Question 1: On the specifications, item 7 indicates a helium leak test but the tubes will be open ended so it would impossible to do a leak check until the tubes are put into the sealed assembly. Answer 1: For an open tube, here are two examples for a helium leak test: 1) Make the tube a ¼” longer to put a mechanical metal compression fitting on the open end to seal it for the test (and then cut off the compression fitting when done). 2) Use a gasket slip on compression fitting (that doesn't bite into the pipe) to seal the open end for the test. For the second method, since it uses a non metallic gasket for the seal, there will be helium permeation issues which govern how quick the test should be done and other issues to be resolved. Question 2: Are there any drawings associated with the specification. Answer 2: No, dimensions are given for the tubing and rod stock. The due date for receipt of offers is extended to March 29, 2005. Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on March 31, 2005.
