Description

The U.S. Maritime Administration's James River Reserve Fleet requires a personnel launch for servicing ships moored in the James River near Fort Eustis, Virginia. Either a new or a serviceable used personnel launch in good operating condition will be considered. The following description provides minimum requirements for the craft. Hull design - Pilothouse forward, "V" shaped hull; Hull material - steel or aluminum; Superstructure - steel or aluminum; Service - hull and machinery systems for saltwater service; Length O. A. - 50 feet; Draft - 6 feet max; Fendering - around perimeter of hull; Cargo Capacity - design to allow for the carriage of cargo on aft weather deck; Propulsion - diesel, twin; Cruising speed - 15 knots loaded; Full speed - 20 knots loaded; Generator - diesel, maximum craft electrical load plus 5 KW 120/240, 60 Hz, VAC; Seating capacity - 45 persons; HVAC - pilothouse and passenger cabin heated and air-conditioned; Full instrumentation available in the pilothouse; Navigation equipment - VHF radio, GPS, 3 cm (X-band) radar, fathometer. It is anticipated that a complete Request for Proposals will be available to interested offerors on/or about April 11, 2005. The Department of Transportation (DOT), Short-Term Lending Program (STLP) offers working capital financing in the form of lines of credit to finance accounts receivable for transportation related contracts.
