Description

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services CMS) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, with Sterling Software (America). In support of the Medicare Modernization Act mandated by Congress, CMS will procure the Gentran Integration Sever (GIS). GIS will be purchased to interact with both the mainframe and mid-tier versions of Connect Direct at CMS?s Central office, which have been in use by the Agency since 1987. GIS will provide a secure ?mailbox? for critical file exchanges between CMS and the State Agencies, and Managed Care Sites,that are running Connect Direct on either their mainframe or mid-tier platforms. The procurement is inclusive of maintenance for up to a one year period (including version and release upgrades, software defect correction, and 24 x 7 x 365 day phone support) and Sterling professional services to provide, installation and configuration support. GIS will be installed in CMS?s three zone Internet and Intranet infrastructure. The procurement will be conducted under other than full and open competition, under the authority of 10 U.S.C.2304(c)(1). If no affirmative written documentation is received within (5) business days of this synopsis, CMS will proceed with negotiations to issue a contract to Sterling Software (America).
