- Description
- The Food and Drug Administration intends to award a non-competitive, sole source purchase order to OpGen Inc., Madison, WI. The contractor shall provide preparation of Optical Maps from E. coli 0157 isolates. Optical mapping is a novel, single molecule technique for generating whole genome maps from restricted chromosomes. Optical maps are generated using a modified fluorescent microscope with an in-line digital camera to acquire digital images of fragmented chromosomes that are mounted onto glass surfaces. An advance computing cluster specifically designed for optical mapping then quantitates the DNA bands present in each of these pictures and assembles an optical map from the process data. The hardware and software that is required for optical mapping is only available from OpGen Inc. The contractor has the proprietary rights for this product. This is not a formal request for quotes. However, evaluation of other offers and any award decision will be made on a best value basis. The FDA intends to make an award immediately after the response date of this notice. The sole source procurement is being awarded as a simplified acquisition in accordance with FAR Part 13.
