Description
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has a requirement for Contractor Depot Level Support (CDLS) repair services for the Instrument Landing System (ILS), specifically Series 2100. Prompt repair services are of utmost importance in order to guarantee safety for the flying public. The ILS 2100 helps the pilot to safely land an aircraft at an airport under conditions of low ceilings and limited visibility. The use of the system reduces interruptions of service at airports resulting from bad weather by allowing operations to continue at lower weather minimums. Alenia Marconi Systems (AMS) Ltd. is the only known source for these repair services as they are the designer and manufacturer of the 2100 ILS and hold the proprietary documentation on the system. Many of the manufacturing and test procedures for the series 2100 ILS are proprietary in nature and unavailable to other corporations. AMS is the only current source of this equipment; provides repairs and testing for this equipment; and can satisfy all the requirements for this effort.
