Description
The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) intends to enter into sole source negotiations with FN Herstal, S.A for the procurement of: (a) up to one thousand GAU-21 machine gun weapon systems; (b) development of system interfaces onto the following aircraft platforms UH-1, CH46, and CH-53; (c) production of system interfaces for UH-1, CH46, and CH-53 and SH-60 aircraft platforms; (d) Operator and Armorer tool kits; (e) periodic and random replacement part kits; (f) technical manuals for the operation, maintenance and repairs of the weapon system; (g) training in the operation, maintenance, and repair of the weapon system; (h) engineering and logistics investigations; and, (i) engineering and logistics technical support services for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the weapon system. The delivery of these supplies and services will occur over two to three years. Unless otherwise stated herein, no formal request for proposal nor additional written information is currently available. Request for the same will be disregarded. A determination by the Government not to compete is solely within the discretion of the Government. This synopsis is published for information purposes only. (THIS NOTICE IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS). GENERAL INFORMATION: FN Herstal is the sole designer, developer, and manufacturer of the GAU-21 machine gun, and as such, is the only known source available with the requisite technical knowledge, experience and tooling to produce, to satisfy the government's requirement. The North American Industry Classification Systems (NAICS) code for the supplies anticipated needed herein is 332995.
