- Description
- NASA/GSFC has a requirement for Qty: 1 EA Conformal Gripper EPower. This product is a Co-axial pair of Concentric Rings coupled together by a set of Pre-Loaded Anti-Backlash Gear-Bearings such that low noise electrical power can be transferred from one ring to the other through the Gear-Bearings and the Gear-Bearings will have sufficient structural strength and toughness to meet mechanical functional requirements for the robot joint. Qty: 1 EA Conformal Gripper Sensing System. As part of this, the Conformal Gripper is instrumented to perform "Virtual Feel" Capaciflector sensing. Qty: 1 EA Conformal Gripper Tools. The product is a tool set for a Conformal Gripper prototype. The tool set will consist of a 7/16 in. Hex Socket Wrench, a 7/16 in. Hex Allen Wrench and a general purpose wrench capable of reconfiguring itself to work on Hex fasteners of several sizes. Each tool is to be configured to fit the Conformal Gripper and to operated by same. NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Honeybee Robotics, Inc., New York, NY. The GSFC Technology Transfer Office licenses NASA technology to industrial firms, Honeybee Robotics is one of those firms. Honeybee Robotics has expertise in Capaciflector, Gear-Bearings and space mechanisms and robotics, including the drill systems currently being used on the mars robots. Honeybee Robotics has the best combination of technical skills and expertise to perform this work. Honeybee has a established track record in developing state-of-the-art multi-disciplinary NASA robotic devices for space flight and this work is being made for use on NASA robots on the moon and on-orbit. This enables Honeybee to provide a more flight ready product. These products must be delivered on time and cost effective. Honeybee Robotics, Inc. is the only vendor who can provide these products in accordance with our technical and date requirements. The Authority is 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1), Only Responsible Source.
