- DE-RI52-05NA26763 Sources Sought Announcement 150 Metric Ton Gantry Crane (March 30, 2005) International sources are being sought for a contractor to design, fabricate, deliver, and install (with site assistance) a gantry crane for handling spent nuclear fuel casks near Aktau, Kazakhstan. The crane will have a lifting height of at least 14 meters (46 ft); a span of 26 meters (83.5 ft), and a travel length of 103 meters (338 ft). The crane will need to meet Kazakhstani design and licensing requirements; and all manuals, e.g. installation, operations, and maintenance, and other communications will need to be in excellent Russian. A request for proposal is expected to be released in the summer of 2005. The crane will need to be operational in late fall of 2006.
