- The purpose of this Sources Sought/Market Research is to identify potential sources capable of manufacturing the 25mm PGU-25 High Explosive Incendiary (HEI) Cartridge, NSN 1305-01-199-6737, P/N 1397AS590. The main components of the Government Techni cal Data package for the PGU-25 HEI cartridge are the M505 Fuze, Steel Projectile Body, Explosive, Booster Pellet, Propellant, Steel Cartridge Case, and Percussion Primer. A respondent to this market survey must have available the facilities and skills re quired to manufacture and prove out the 25MM PGU-25 HEI Cartridge. Production of the 25MM PGU-25 HEI is very complex and requires sophisticated industrial capabilities. Specific capabilities and skills required to manufacture the 25MM PGU-25 HEI Cartridge are as follows: explosive experts, set-up mechanics, machinists, process engineers and inspection personnel with the critical skills needed to successfully produce this round. Specific production capabilities required include: Equipment to Load, Assemble, and Pack (LAP) this cartridge, required explosive storage and handling facilities, ballistic test equipment and specialized machine tooling unique to the manufacture of the PGU-25 HEI cartridge. A respondent would need to possess the specialized skills and equipment to produce and test the PGU-25 HEI in addition to the M505 Fuze which is a critical component of the PGU-25 HEI Cartridge. A producer must be able to complete a First Article Test. Interested firms who feel they are capable of manufacturing the 25MM PGU-25 HEI Cartridges are invited to indicate their interest by providing the Government a brief summary of their company's capabilities, including a brief description of facilities, personnel, available production capacity, and past manufacturing ex perience as it relates to the above criteria. Information must be submitted to schmollj@afsc.army.mil not later than February 3, 2005 and identify 25MM PGU-25 HEI Cartridges Sources Sought/Market Research as the subject of your response. This is a market survey for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a Request for Proposal or as an obligation on the part of the Government. The Government does not intend to award a contract based on this market survey or otherwise pay for information solici ted.
