Description

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has a requirement for a fully found vessel, operating personnel, facilities, fuel, oil, food and support equipment as specified, to l) conduct a geophysical survey providing a regional framework of the surficvial geology and shallow sub-bottom stratigraphy and 2) collect samples and underwater photography/video in the near shore area off the coast of Massachusetts. The objective of this survey is to produce interpretive maps of the sea floor geology with particular applications to coastal erosion and marine habitat studies in cooperative work with the State of Massachusetts. Work will be conducted in waters as shallow as 5 meters. The survey will require one cruise. Mobilization will start September 6, 2005 in Woods Hole, MA. The vessel will depart Woods Hole on September 7th returning on September 20. Demobilization will occur on September 21. Interim port stop locations are as yet undetermined. NAICS code 48311.
