- CONTRACT INFORMATION: POC for technical information is James Lowe at (502) 315-6459 and for contract information is Anita Simpkins, 312-846-5372. With this announcement, the Chicago District Corps of Engineers issues a Pre-solicitation Notice for its intentions to award a Firm Fixed-Price Construction Contract. The Contractor will be responsible for providing all the necessary facilities, plants, labor, transportation, materials, and equipment to accomplish the entire project as stated below. The p roject includes the construction of a new pump station, which will be constructed of reinforced cast-in-place concrete. Due to the limited area for construction, steel sheet piles walls will be used for excavation of the pump station and will also provide the exterior formwork for the pump station walls. The pump station will have three storm water pumps @ 5700 GPM each and one dry-weather pump @ 200 GPM. An electric motor operated sluice gate will be provided on the inlet pipe to the pump station to provi de a secondary means of closure from the river to the storm water collection system. All the discharge pipes from the pump station to the Cady Marsh Ditch will be provided with flexible check valves. A new 200 KW diesel generators and concrete slab will a lso be installed at the new pump station. The project includes all electrical wiring and controls for operation of the pump station and transferring to the emergency generator in the event commercial power is lost. Temporary electrical service and operat ing controls will be required for the existing Brinwood pump station during the construction of the new Genis pump station. After completion of the Genis pump station the controls for the Brinwood pump station will be integrated into the control panels of the Genis pump station. A reinforced concrete trash rack structure will also be constructed separate from the pump station for screening debris from the storm water prior to entering the pump station. Temporary pumping during construction will be require d to bypass the storm water from the collection system around the construction site to the Cady Marsh ditch. Temporary pumping will be required from the time the existing Genis pump is demolished until the new pump station is commissioned. An articulated concrete mat will be installed in and across the Cady Marsh Ditch to prevent soil erosion from the pump station discharge. The existing access road will be completely reconstructed including the storm water collection system under the roadway. The Classif ication Code for this procurement is North American Industry System (NAICS) 237990 Other Heavy and Civil Engineering Construction and it is 100% SET-ASIDE FOR SMALL BUSINESS. The small business size standard for which, is a concern, including all affi liates, earning $28,500,000.00 million or less. You will also need to register at this website. This is the only way your company can be placed on the plan holders list and receive any amendments. The solicitation will be available on the Internet on or before 18 April 2005. The due date for bi ds will be on or about 18 May 2005, at 2:00 PM Chicago Local Time. In order for contractors to conduct business with the Department of Defense, the contractor must provide registration information to the Central Contractor Registration (CCR).
