Description
The Navy intends to award the following project at some point in the future. Due to the specialties/expertise that will be required for this project, the Navy is seeking feedback to help determine the types and number of firms that could meet these requirements and would be interested in bidding on this project. Please respond to Ryan Mangels, Contract Specialist, at ryan.mangels@navy.mil no later than COB 25 April 2005 if you believe your firm would be interested. Include your company name, address, and Point-of-Contact (POC) information. In addition, please include no more than a one (1) page description of the type of work that your company performs. You may also include examples of previous, similar jobs within the one page description. Finally, any questions or requests for additional information will not be answered at this time. The following specialties/expertise are required: Experience in constructing chemical process facilities. Experience in constructing acid plants. Experience in chemical process pipe installation that require specific slope installation. Experience in the installation of glass and glass lined equipment and piping. General description of the project: The Agile Chemical Facility (ACF) is located at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Maryland. The ACF project is located on two existing process facility sites, the Moser and Biazzi plants. The Chemicals Branch currently manufactures Nitrate Esters (NE) in the two existing plants. NE?s are high-energy liquid explosives that are highly sensitive to impact and friction. The project consolidates the capabilities of the Biazzi plant and the Moser plant into one plant. The project size is 8,729 SF. The Biazzi plant was constructed at IHDIV during the 1950s. The Moser plant was constructed in the 1940s. The project includes the demolition of most of the existing Moser Facility after the new construction completion of the ACF. The ACF will be located at the existing Biazzi plant. The existing site of the Biazzi plant will house the new process facility. Modifications at the Biazzi plant include the demolition of seven buildings, demolition and rebuilding on the same site five new buildings, retrofitting sixteen buildings, the addition of two new buildings and adding a short access road with driveway to other buildings. The 320sf concrete Building 767, 200sf containment structure-Building 1056, the Building 1461, and Building 1831 tank with tank structural supports, shall be demolished. The Building 772, is a 960sf concrete containment structure consisting of a 3? high containment wall, having four 5700 gallon tanks, and a 25?high catwalk with structural supports, shall be demolished. The 360sf Building 787, shall be demolished. The Building 777 600sf concrete containment structures consisting of a 3? high containment wall, two (2) 5700 gallon tanks, and a 25?high catwalk with structural supports, shall be demolished. The 960sf concrete containment structure, Building 773A, consisting of a 3? high containment wall, having three 5700 gallon tanks, and a 25?high catwalk with structural supports, shall be demolished and rebuilt. The 4,500 sf Building 790A, shall be demolished and rebuilt. The 600 sf Building 801A, shall be demolished and rebuilt. The 2400sf Building 786A shall be demolished and rebuilt. The Building 1465The Building 1250sf reinforced concrete Building 775, shall be modified to repair interior finishes and replace chemical process piping, valves, controls and other related apparatus. An approximately 210 ft Transport Trough shall be expanded by approximately 70 ft, with the installation of new chemical transport tubes, eductors, valves and additional apparatus. The Building T10 is an emergency air compressor and it shall be replace with a new air compressor and an out-door diesel generator. The Building 786B shall be modified with a new 333 sf addition. The Building 786C, 786D, 786E-F, 1464, , 1531, 1695, 1696, 1769, 1784, 1829 and 3043 shall be renovated to replace chemical process piping, valves, controls and other related apparatus. The 3839sf Building 1006, shall be renovated to repair interior finishes and replace chemical process piping, valves, controls and other related apparatus. The 960sf pre-engineered Control Building T-03 and the 864sf reinforced CMU Diagnostic Laboratory Building 786, are new buildings. Modifications at the Moser plant include the demolition of 18 buildings and other appurtenances. Two (2) wood buildings less than 100sf each, shall be demolished. Five (5) concrete buildings, less than 510sf each, shall be demolished. Two (2) steel containers less than 155sf each, shall be demolished. Three (3) pre-fabricated buildings less than 890sf each, shall be demolished. Four (4) steel tanks less than 130sf each, with a 2? high concrete surrounding dike, shall be demolished. Two (2) cargo storage containers less than 125sf each, shall be demolished.
