- Description
- 1. The Fleet and Industrial Supply Center, Norfolk Contracting Department, Philadelphia Division Contract Operations Branch Four Washington Office intends award a contract for the Naval Criminal Investigative Service?s (NCIS) Data Center to support the current information service needs and growth of NCIS. The Data Center will encompass unclassified (NIPRNET), SECRET (SIPRNET), and TOP SECRET (JWICS) Information Technology Systems as well as Secure/Un-secure Video teleconferencing. The data center provides a place to consolidate application servers, web servers, communication equipment, VTC equipment, system administrators, and support personnel that allows 24 hours a day, 7 days a week computing support to NCIS worldwide. The data center requires layer three switching capability to update the data center core network. 2. The data center encompasses many aspects to include server consolidation, storage consolidation, improve services, provide physical security, improved system/network administration capabilities, and improve information assurance. Server and storage consolidation reduces the total devices managed therefore saving costs and reducing workload for system administrators. There is an Enterprise Wide Backup Solution to support disaster recovery and system-monitoring tools that provide the means to be proactive to ensure the IT environment is healthy. 3. The system shall provide a comprehensive end-to-end IP infrastructure, which will not only provide a foundation for existing applications, but will embrace new applications without costly upgrades or replacement. the system shall be built on a wire-speed, non-blocking architecture, to deliver industry leading performance with comprehensive reliability, availability and security. The products shall be the foundation for the network infrastructure, the data center shall be confident that legacy applications will be supported, and will be able to take advantage of new applications including Voice and Video. The embedded high performance and Quality of Service (QoS) features shall deliver Voice over IP (VoIP) through BRAVVO architecture. Capabilities include the following: Increasing Network Value through Converged (Voice, Video, and Data) Deployments Intelligent Traffic Control to Manage Bandwidth Consumption Enhancing QoS to Ensure High-Availability and Traffic Integrity Expanding Network Reliability with Load-Balanced, Hot-Swappable, and Redundant Power Supply Units Bolstering Network Resilience with Fault-Tolerant, Redundant Software and Hardware Options Industry Leading Switching and Multi-protocol Routing Options IronShield Security ? Wire-speed Network Protection JetScope ? Illuminating Network Traffic for Better Network Management and Control Built-In 1000Base-TX Ports for Instantaneous Connectivity to Gigabit Copper Attached Servers for Network Performance 4. Within the system architect shall be brand name or equal to FastIron Workgroup and EdgeIron Family. The FastIron Workgroup X424 and X448 (FWS X424 and FWS X448) are new wire-speed 10/100 /1000 Layer 2 edge switches with optional 10GbE uplinks (1 or 2). They are purpose-built for high system availability and feature 24 or 48 ports of Gigabit over Copper (GoC) connectivity, redundant AC/DC, hot-swappable power supplies, front-panel accessibility, and a compact 1.5 unit high form factor. They are an excellent solution for high density, GoC wiring closets, data center GoC server connectivity and high performance ?top-of-the-rack? switching for supercomputing environments. The FastIron Workgroup switch family offers performance of up to 102 million packets per second. 5. The EdgeIron family of 10/100 and 10/100/1000 switches, featuring the EdgeIron 2402CF, EdgeIron 4802CF, EdgeIron 24G, and EdgeIron 48G, delivers interface flexibility, wire-speed performance, superior port density, and a complete, standard Layer 2 feature set to address the mid-range needs of enterprise users. 6. The EdgeIron 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) switches, featuring the EdgeIron 24GS, 48GS, and 8X10G, delivers interface flexibility, wire-speed performance, superior port density, and a complete standard Layer 2 feature set to address low-cost and high performance switching requirements of enterprise and service providers. 7. Only 1 rack unit (1RU) high, the EdgeIron family is an excellent choice to deliver Gigabit Over Copper (GoC) with 10GbE uplink within the wiring closet and server farm, and 10GbE within the backbone. The EdgeIron is easy to configure and maintain. It offers a high-performance Layer 2 solution for enterprise network deployments. The system will allow efficient operation and management of the NCIS data center network. 8. The North American Industrial Classification Code System (NAICS) is 334119. The Federal Supply Classification (FSC) for this requirement is 7042. This requirement is a 100% small business set aside. All inquiries should be directed toward Contract Specialist Frank Miller, LT, SC, USN at (202) 433-7150 or via email at frank.miller@navy.mil.
