- Description
- NASA/MSFC has a requirement for: Item #1) 1" Bar, Solid Virgin Teflon, QTY: 6,460 INCHES, Item #2) 1.5" Bar, Solid Virgin Teflon, QTY: 5,780 INCHES, Item #3) 2" Bar, Solid Virgin Teflon, QTY: 4,318 INCHES, Item #4) 2.5" Bar, Solid Virgin Teflon, QTY: 2,880 INCHES. The contractor shall supply a 3/4" diameter long rod sample that is identified by Batch-Lot number at placement of purchase order that is representative of each line item below. The contractor shall hold ample supply of parent resin until MSFC completes successful oxygen impact testing on sample. Upon successful testing, the contractor shall complete the order with the same Batch-Lot as was sampled. Standard bar lengths of 34 inches (or longer) are acceptable. However, bar lengths shall not be shorter than 24". If the testing is unsuccessful, the contractor shall provide another batch lot sample for testing. This order is contingent on MSFC acceptance of oxygen impact test results of sample. NASA/MSFC intends to purchase the items from Greene Tweed & Company, Kulpsville, PA, pursuant to FAR 13.106(b)(1), based on a determination that the above items are reasonably available from only one source. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on April 20, 2005. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
