Description
The US Army Research, Development and Engineering Command (RDECOM), Communications-Electronics Research, Development and Engineering Center (CERDEC), Space and Terrestrial Communications Directorate (S&TCD), is requesting information as part of a mar ket survey to obtain product information from Non Developmental Item (NDI) sources. The RDECOM, CERDEC is seeking information from sources that are capable of providing an off-the-shelf, NDI software product to enhance the Project Manager for Warfighter I nformation Networks -Tactical program by application of TCP/IP header compression to reducing header overhead using header compression enabling efficient use of limited bandwidth. The software is required to be compliant with the Internet Engineering Task Force RFC 3095 concerning Robust Header compression. The software is also required to be interoperable with Western DataComs IPE-2M hardware based encryptor using the National Security Agencies Specification for IPSec, High Assurance Internet Protocol Int eroperability. This market survey is open to both U.S. and foreign vendors. Based upon availability the RDECOM, CERDEC will test and evaluate vendors header compression software in point-to-point SATCOM links applications. These evaluations will assess bandwidth efficiency and robustness improvements resulting from header overhea d minimization. Subsequently, products demonstrating exceptional performance can obtain approval for integration into ongoing programs when the need exists. This request for information (RFI) sources sought (SS) notice is for information and planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a solicitation or as an obligation on the part of the US Army RDECOM. The purpose of this RFI/SS is to identify poten tial sources that may be interested in and capable of performing the work described herein. This announcement is NOT a Request for Bid or Proposal, but a Sources Sought and does not commit the Government to award a contract under the above listed terms, n or is the Government responsible to pay for samples or information received. All interested parties are to respond by submitting product descriptions of their existing NDI product to include its availability for testing. The submission should specifically address a capability overview and include commercially available literature, specifications, and a summary of existing users or customers. Interested vendors should send candidate NDI product descriptions by 18 April 2005 to: RDECOM, CERDEC, S&TCD, Albert J, Myers Research Center, BLDG 2700 Room 4C342, Fort Monmouth, NJ 07703 Attn: AMSEL-RD-ST-DN-SN (Mr. Syeed Ali) or via e-mail syeed.ali@us.army.mil.
