Description
The U.S. Department of Education, Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), has a requirement for managed IPsonar Scan Services. These services must have the capability to perform six external annual comprehensive discovery scans of the Department's Computer Network (EDNet) during peak periods to discover all devices (workstations, servers, printers, and networking infrastructure such as routers, firewalls, etc.) connected to the network. The scans must also be able to discover undocumented and unauthorized devices inside and outside of known/documented address segments. These scans must also be able to identify how and where the ED networks are interconnected with other networks (i.e., other agencies, contractors, Internet connections, etc.) to ensure that all connections are necessary, authorized, and properly documented. ED needs a means of validating that the devices inside the network are protected from unauthorized connections from outside the network, such as from other agency or contractor networks, including the Internet.
