This product is due to be transitioned from research to operations. The contractor shall develop an operational assimilation product to blend sea surface temperature (SST) retrievals from GOES and POES platforms. The software will be developed at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Space Science Division and transferred to the Government to run the demonstration assimilation product for validation and evaluation. This effort represents an important step in the development of an integrated high-resolution global SST product that has been identified by operational agencies as the way forward for meeting the requirements of current and next-generation Ocean and atmospheric models.
