Description
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) will host its Sixth Annual National Small Business Conference on June 12-15, 2005, in Nashville, Tennessee at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center. The purpose of the conference is to reach out to small businesses -- including Small Disadvantaged, Women-owned, 8(A), HUB Zone and Service-Disabled Veteran-owned businesses -- to assist them in contracting with DOE and its major contractors. The conference plays a major role in providing procurement guidance and contracting opportunities to small business. The conference will bring together representatives of the Department, its prime contractors, our network of National Laboratories, and several other Federal agencies to provide valuable information about business lines and upcoming contracting opportunities at DOE and at other agencies as well. The Department continues to be committed to fully engaging small businesses, including small disadvantaged, 8(a), women-owned businesses, HUB Zone, and Service-Disabled Veteran-owned small business concerns, in DOE's core missions. DOE purchases over $19 billion worth of goods and services annually in the areas of facility management, remediation, construction, research and development, management and scientific consulting, plate work manufacturing, administrative services, data processing, security, engineering, and waste treatment and disposal. Features of this year???s conference include: -- Plenary sessions featuring prominent government, corporate and business leaders who will discuss ways small businesses can have better access to DOE procurement opportunities; -- A business exposition providing an opportunity for businesses to showcase their products and services to hundreds of corporate and government attendees, including DOE???s Prime Contractors; -- A Matchmaking Forum providing a unique opportunity to schedule one-on-one meetings with procurement representatives from DOE???s Prime Contractors and share in over $1 billion of possible subcontracting opportunities within FY 2005; -- Charity Golf Tournament providing a fun opportunity to play a top golf course, network with other conference attendees, and help a very worthy cause. Tournament takes place on Sunday, June 12th. DOE has received positive reviews on the previous conferences. This year's conference will continue to provide the essential information and guidance needed to do business with the Department. It is through outreach activities such as this that the Department finds small businesses with the capabilities to match its contracting opportunities. For more information or to register, please visit the conference website at http://www.smallbusiness-outreach.doe.gov/ . DOE looks forward to your participation.
