- REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL (RFP): Installation and Splicing of 1200 Pair Cable Solicitation No.: RFP-2005-020 The Presidio Trust, a Federal government corporation, plans to solicit proposals from qualified contractors to perform installation and splicing of a 1200 pair cable between Buildings 67 and 650 at the Presidio of San Francisco, CA. The Presidio is a National Park and a National Historic Landmark District. The Scope of Work includes the following: The Trust, under a previous contract, provided conduit and placed rope for installation of a 1200 pair cable between Buildings 67 and 650. The Scope of Work for this project is the placement and splicing of a 1200 pair cable. Portions of the cable will be two 600 pair cables due to available conduit sizes and portions of the new cable will override existing cables. Contractor will place and splice five sections of 1200 PR 24AWG PE89 cable and twelve sections of 600 PR 24AWG PE89 cable. All splicing will be per industry specifications. Reference SBC splicing specifications or RUS Bulletin 1753F-401 if additional information is required. All pairs will be tested, end to end, and results reported to the Trust using electronic format. Tests will also be conducted for shorts, opens, grounds, and polarity. The Trust will provide cable, splice cases, end plates and connector modules only. All other materials shall be provided by the Contractor. Each manhole where cable is to be placed shall be racked/stepped by Contractor for proper handling and storage of cable. Contractor shall follow industry standard practice in racking/securing cable in each manhole. Certificate(s) of Insurance and Bonding capacity is required. Davis Bacon Act (U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage rates) applies. A MANDATORY site visit is scheduled for Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. Meet at 67 Martinez Street, the Presidio of San Francisco. Only those contractors attending this mandatory site visit may propose for this contract. Plans and Specifications will be issued at the site visit. The Proposal Due Date will be specified in the RFP (approx. May 11, 2005). Estimated start date is May 16, 2005 with work to be completed within six weeks of start date. DATES ARE TENTATIVE AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE. Qualified small businesses (including small disadvantaged businesses and minority- and women-owned small businesses) are strongly encouraged to respond. The Presidio Trust is a wholly owned federal government corporation and is not subject to the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
