Description
MARCORSYSCOM is seeking information regarding the capabilities of a Non-Developmental Light Weight Mine Roller (LWMR) system. The LWMR is being considered as a mine clearing capability for the Assault Breacher Vehicle (ABV). The LWMR shall operate without degradation using the available hydraulic resources (47 gal/min at 1600 psi) and electric resources (28 V dc at 150 amps max) provided by the ABV. Integration of the LWMR shall require minimal modification to the front of an ABV or M1A1 chassis The LWMR shall be capable of clearing a lane of at least 13 feet wide at speeds up to 10 miles/hour; weigh no more than 3500 pounds, with each roller providing no less than 800 pounds of downward force; providing a travel angle of 17 degrees or greater when mounted onto the front of the ABV; and must operate during all types of climatic and weather conditions without degradation, including rain, snow, hail, ice, fog, dust, sand, and high humidity in temperatures from -25 degrees F to +125 degrees F. The LWMR shall include a control unit that allows the ABV driver to control all functions of the LWMR. All external mechanisms and electronic components of the LWMR shall be watertight/proof to preclude damage during deep-water fording operations. The LWMR, with normal prescribed maintenance, must be resistant to the corrosive effects of a severe marine atmospheric environment consisting of seawater splash and spray, and occasional seawater immersion during operation, transport, and storage. The LWMR and its components shall conform to all current Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protective Agency (EPA) requirements. Firms, which have products with the above characteristics/capabilities, are invited to submit the following information within their Capability Statement: 1) Product summary, 2) Complete technical characteristics, 3) Pictures/drawings of system, 4) Unit price and 5) Unit manufacturing capability. Responses will be reviewed to identify firms potentially capable of fulfilling the Government's requirements. Vendors are requested to submit their Capability Statement to the address below no later than 28 April 2004. It is requested that no Capability Statement be sent via e-mail. This sources sought/Request For Information (RFI) is for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a Request For Proposal or as an obligation on the part of the Government to acquire follow-on acquisition. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI, or otherwise pay for the information requested. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges by the Government will arise as a result of submission of responses to this RFI and Government use of such information. The Government recognizes that proprietary data may be part of this effort. If so included, clearly mark such restricted or proprietary data and present it as an addendum to the non-restricted/non-proprietary information. NO SOLICITATION DOCUMENT EXISTS AT THIS TIME. Responses to this RFI shall be mailed to Commanding General, MARCORSYSCOM, Attn: Terence J. McGinn (Code GTES), 2200 Lester Street, Quantico, VA 22134.
