Description
This is the second of two planned announcements for this requirement. The Federal Bureau of Prisons, Field Acquisition Office, located at Kansas City, Kansas intends to issue a solicitation with a requirement to replace boilers at the United States Penitentiary (USP), Leavenworth, Kansas. Contract activity will be in a tight working environment with restrictions on construction activities, contractor-movement, and working hours. The magnitude of construction is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. The North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS 2002) code applicable to this notice is 238220, with a size standard of $ 12.0 million. Contract duration is anticipated to be 365 calendar days from notice-to-proceed. Bid, performance and payment-bonds will be required. Posting of the solicitation on this web site, is projected to be on or after May 1, 2005, with a projected bid due-date of June 1, 2005. These dates are subject to change. This is a 100% small business set-aside. Numbered note 1 applies to this synopsis. Security investigations and subsequent clearances issued by the Federal Bureau of Prisons will be required for all staff who perform any contract activity on the grounds of USP Leavenworth. The solicitation, all amendments, and related future information will be distributed solely through this website (http://www.fedbizopps.gov/). Hard copies of the solicitation will not be available. Interested parties are responsible for monitoring this website to ensure that they have the most up-to-date information about this acquisition. All responsible sources are encouraged to submit a bid that will be considered for award. Any contractor interested in obtaining a contract-award with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, must be registered on-line at www.ccr.gov. Residency requirements are applicable to this solicitation. Bidding officials and contractor employees working under this contract on Federal grounds will require a certification that for three of the five years immediately prior to responding to this solicitation, the bidder has: resided in the United States; worked for the U.S. overseas in a Federal or military capacity; or has been a dependent of a Federal or military employee serving overseas. Faith-Based and Community-Based Organizations have the right to submit bids equally with other organizations for contracts for which they are eligible.
