Description
The Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA’s) Transportation Security Laboratory (TSL) is sponsoring a Capabilities Demonstration for walk-through Enhanced Metal Detectors (EMD). The TSA invites voluntary participation from sources that offer EMDs to support a laboratory trial. The TSA is interested in evaluating market-ready EMDs. Respondents are asked to provide one unit, an operation manual, on-site representative, set-up and same day removal of their EMD. The demonstration will take only one day for each unit and will be at no cost to the TSA. Each vendor can participate in the test and will retain ownership of their EMD for the duration of the demonstration (one day). The laboratory demonstration for EMD capabilities is scheduled for the first two weeks of May 2005, and will examine the ability and capabilities of individual EMD systems. The focus of this Capabilities Demonstration is to evaluate technologies and systems designed to screen passengers. The goal is to provide the TSL access to a variety of potential technologies and systems for evaluation. The TSA may incorporate previously undemonstrated capabilities in future TSA procurement specifications. Both vendors who are currently on the TSA EMD Qualified Product List and who are not on the QPL may provide EMD machines for a capabilities demonstration. All interested parties must contact Mr. Adam Freimanis with an email at adam.freimanis@dhs.gov by April 22, 2005 at 11:00 AM EST. The email must contain; POC name, POC phone number, Company name, EMD model name and a preference date for demonstration at the TSL near Atlantic City, N.J. This action supports informational objectives and in no way binds the Government to a contract at this time or in the future. The Government will not assume any liability during the testing and will NOT be responsible for any costs incurred by the vendor. If you have any questions please contract Mr. Adam Freimanis either by email or phone (571) 227-3878.
