Description
USDA, Natural Resources Conservation Service, in Michigan is planning to issue an Invitation for Bid, (Construction) at Point Mills, Michigan Smelter, and Isle Royal Sands sites, Torch Lake EPA Superfund Project located in Houghton County, Michigan for construction repair. The work consists of the placement of rock riprap shoreline protection along the shoreline of Portage Lake and Portage Canal. Major items of construction are as follows: Seeding and Mulching (4.1 acres); Mobilization and Demobilization (lump sum); Rock Riprap (3,562 tons); Sand Bedding (204 Tons); and Topsoiling (568 Cu. Yd.). Estimated cost is between $50,000 and $200,000. The “Invitation to Bid” package will be available via www.fedbizopps.gov on or about April 18, 2005. Contractors are encouraged to check this web address for changes to the solicitation (amendments). Site showing will be held on May 19, 2005 at 1:00 P.M. (EST) at the UPPCO Building, 600 East Lakeshore Drive, Houghton, MI 49931. Interested bidders are encouraged to attend. Bid opening will be held at the same location on June 1, 2005 at 10 A.M. (EST). Construction is expected to begin on or around July 5, 2005. Performance time is 38 calendar days. Liquidated damages will be assessed at $1000 per day. A bid guarantee of 20% of the bid amount must accompany the bid proposal. PLEASE NOTE: Contractor will be required to follow the USDA, NRCS Safety Plan and all site workers including subcontractors will require the 24-hour Hazwoper Training prior to any construction activity. No material from the jobsite, including cleared and grubbed material, will be burned on or off site. This is a requirement of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).This is a full and open competition. The Davis Bacon Act Wage Determination MI020064, dated 8.20/2004 applies to this solicitation. Registration in the Central Contractors Registration is required to be awarded a contract. Register at www.ccr.gov.
