Description
The US Army TACOM-ARDEC Explosive Ordnance Disposal Directorate (EOD) is seeking interested sources that have the capability for detail design and fabrication for an X-Ray System for Non-Destruction Examination of Explosive Filled Foreign Ordnance for the Picatinny EOD Operations complex. This market survey is intended to gauge if there are companies interested in bidding this job, based upon the following preliminary specifications: An X-ray system is sought to facilitate the non-intrusive examination of foreign ordnance. The desired system shall provide high resolution, digital images that can be used to discern details of the ordnance’s assembly and components. The range of ordnance that may be examined range from small sub-munitions (volume about 1.5 inch diameter by 3” length) to large 128mm external diameter multiple launch rockets (approximately 10 ft. long). The desired capabilities of the X-ray system include the following: (a) High x-ray penetration. Ability to penetrate a thick steel walled projectile (8” diameter by 30” length). Wall thickness of projectile ranges from ˝” at nose to 1 inch at base. (b) High x- ray source spot size. Ability to concentrate x-ray source on small area for high resolution imaging. (c) Digital imaging. Conversion of x-ray detectors to high resolution digital images. (d) Digital-based management of x-ray images. Ability to “paste” multiple images together to create single image of long munitions. (e) X-ray holding fixture to be adaptable to holding small ordnance to large 128mm diameter rockets. Ability to x-ray large ordnance in multiple sections. If companies with the above expertise are interested in the above requirement please respond to Picatinny Center for Contracting, Richard Wheelwright, email: rwheel@pica.army.mil, 973-724-3941 NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO WWW.FEDBIZOPPS.GOV ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (22-APR-2005); HOWEVER, IT DID APPEAR IN THE FEDBIZOPPS FTP FEED ON THIS DATE.
