Description
Air Force Research Laboratory, Materials and Manufacturing Directorate (AFRL/PKMN ) solicits research proposals for the purpose of acquiring research and development effort in the program area of Nonmetals Materials Supportability. The proposed acquisition (reference FA8650-05-R-5610) is a follow-up effort to foster capabilities previously obtained under contracts F33615-00-D-5600 and F33615-95-D-5616 for similar work. The overall objective of this program is to provide and maintain a strong materials and process support engineering capability on a quick reaction basis. The program will develop new and emerging materials and process technologies that can be transitioned quickly to the Air Force for support of weapons and aircraft systems, remotely piloted vehicles, space systems, launch vehicles, missile systems, and static/mobile support equipment applications. The key technology areas include the investigation of materials and processes associated with advanced composites supportability and repair methods, adhesives and bonded repair, elastomers (sealants, molded seals, and similar materials), low observable maintainability, and various other nonmetallic aerospace applications. The government is contemplating a sole source contract award to the University of Dayton Research Institute, Dayton, OH, pursuant to the authority of FAR 6.302-1. Any source interested in this requirement should respond by fully describing the appropriate equipment, facilities, background and research experience of their organization. Responses must include the identity and resumes of all personnel to be utilized, and should be mailed to Gary Victor, Contract Negotiator, DET 1 AFRL/PK, Bldg. 167, Area B, 2310 8th ST, WPAFB OH 45433-7801. The closing date for submission of response via U.S. Postal Service is within fifteen (15) days from publication of this notice.
