Description
**Amendment to solicitation: Amended to correct simplified procedures stated in FAR Part 13. Also, estimated date of solicitation is May 16, 2005.** The National Cancer Institute (NCI) plans to procure on a sole source basis for the brand name Luminex 100 IS Version 2.2 Total System including: a) Luminex 100 control 1, b) Luminex 100 control 2, c) Luminex 100 CL1/CL2 calibration micorspheres, d) Luminex 100 RP1 calibration microspheres, e) Luminex sheath fluid, f) beadview software including three separate licenses and, g) two (2) day training sessions, as authorized in FAR Part 13.1. This acquisition will be conducted in accordance with the simplified procedures provided in FAR 13. The North American Industry Classification System code is 334516 and the business size standard is 500 employees. The following salient characteristic applies to the Luminex 100 IS version 2.2 Total System is speed/high throughput using xMAP technology. Justification: The xMAP technology uses color-coded bead on which variety of biomolecules (oligonucleotide, antigens, antibodies, receptors, etc.), can be attached. For the purpose of the NCI, specific oligonucleotides will be attached to color-coded beads and gene expression is measured. The xMAP technologies shall provide faster and more reproducible results compared with those from microarray.
